Please read the terms of use contained in this document carefully, as any use of this site constitutes your acceptance of the terms of use set forth in this document. If you do not agree to these terms of use, please do not use the Website.

 

On this site, the terms "we", "us", "our" and "Adopt Today" refer to Adopt Today. "You", "shelter", "organization" and "member" refer to any animal shelter, rescue, organization and/or person who accesses and/or uses this website to list adoptable pets.

 

Please note: Adopta Hoy may revise these terms of use by updating this posting at any time. Please read them carefully.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF ORGANIZATIONS

 

Adopta Hoy offers a free service for animal shelters, rescue organizations, and independent rescue groups involved in rehoming and caring for adoptable pets.

 

Adopta Hoy considers all content published on Adopta Hoy as "public" content. As such, Adopta Hoy and its associates may access any files, programs, or materials placed on this site, including, but not limited to, pet information, images, videos, documents, etc. By uploading content to this site, you grant Adopta Hoy the absolute right to use, reproduce, modify, distribute, etc. content anywhere and everywhere.

 

To maintain an active account on Adopta Hoy, each member account (shelter/organization/independent rescuer) must meet the following conditions:

 

• The organization is committed to keeping its list of pets in Adopta Hoy updated, it is also committed to:

  • Post only adoptable pets, directly available and under the responsibility of your organization.

  • Provide accurate information about pet descriptions and donations requested for adoption, to the best of your knowledge, and remove pets that are no longer adoptable from your organization's list of adoptable pets.

  • Post only pets that can be adopted or fostered, no pets or items for sale, pets for breeding purposes, pets not permitted by law, or the promotion of commercial products or services.

  • Operate a non-profit, even if you do not have official non-profit status.

  • Spay/neuter all pets prior to adoption, or include a commitment to future spay/neuter in the adoption process.

  • Maintain a basic profile page on Adopt Today, giving visitors more information about your shelter or organization, your adoption donations, and adoption procedures.

  • Respond to public inquiries in a timely and respectful manner, without requiring an upfront fee or application process.

  • Respond to questions from Adopta Hoy staff in a timely and respectful manner.

  • Do not post derogatory information about other organizations, individuals, breeds/pets, and/or Adopt Today. Because Adopta Hoy is a family website, the content must be suitable for viewing by visitors of all ages. Profane and/or discriminatory language is prohibited.

  • You warrant that you and any users associated with your Adopta Hoy account have no citations, infractions or crimes related to animal care, or other convictions for actions that endangered public safety, or that prohibit you from using the Internet or network pages social.

 

• Members are expected to adhere to applicable national animal care regulations and seek veterinary guidance as necessary or required by law. The organization must actively ensure the good health of the pets published in Adopta Hoy.

• Pets may not be ripped, devoiced, or cosmetically altered by surgery as a tactic to enhance their adoption on Adopt Today. Pets that enter the care of an adoption group already declawed, devocalized, or cosmetically altered may be posted for adoption on the Adopta Hoy site.​

• It is expected that, in the adoption process through Adopta Hoy, the organization provides total clarity and transparency about the health conditions of the pet to its adopter before the delivery of the pet. 

​

• Members must provide Adopta Hoy with the information necessary to complete the requested fields when creating their page within the website. Each organization's page is expected to contain enough information so that a potential adopter can learn about the organization, the organization's adoption policies, adoption procedures, adoption donations, and be able to communicate with the organization, without leaving the organization. page of the organization within Adopta Hoy.

• Content created by members and hosted on the Adopta Hoy website will not promote or advertise any competitors of Adopta Hoy, and/or any sponsor of Adopta Hoy. What constitutes a competitor and a sponsor will be determined at the sole discretion of Adopta Hoy.

• No ads or URLs to advertising pages outside of Adopt Today are allowed on pet profile pages in any way.

​

• HTML must not be used in the animal description area of pet profile pages. Pet profiles are not HTML-compliant and the code itself will appear on the published page, making pet profiles difficult to read.

​

• Adopta Hoy will be able to send a monthly newsletter by email (or other means) and statistics to our members. We also share other animal welfare opportunities and benefits with our members. By agreeing to be a member of Adopta Hoy, you agree to receive these messages.

​

• Eligibility for membership in Adopta Hoy is determined at the sole discretion of Adopta Hoy. Completing a membership application does not guarantee approval for membership.

• Members may be removed from Adopta Hoy at our sole discretion, in Adopta Hoy's sole discretion, without notice, for reasons including, but not limited to, an organization's deviation from this Code of Conduct or Terms and Conditions.
